Car not checked after MOT

Hi, this evening.. i was on a dual carriage way, and my brakes just failed. i have had a full M.O.T on my car, i took it to Nationwide Autocentre in Marsh Barton, i payed a good £928 on this vehicle for the fails in the M.O.T, which was the headgasket, brake cylinders - leaking, rear back breaks, cam gasket, track rod.. aparently the garage had done everything to my car that needed to be done, i went and payed the full amount. Until this incident happened, i didn't notice that with my recipts i did not have a check list with the documents back which work they carried out, the bit where it says 'test driven after completion' said NO, so they hadn't taken my car for a test drive when by law they should have. I had my wife and 8 and a half month old son in the vehicle, we were all very shaken up, i cannot believe that this has happened, it is totally out of order, they should have taken my car for a test drive, and checked the car over once again before they handed the vehicle back to me, i'm taking legal action, and would you be able to tell me if i would have to pay for someone to come out here and check my car over for me please?

Would you be able to get back to me a.s.a.p?
Thank you for your time,

Hi John,

I'm sorry to hear what happened with your car. This is really dangerous and could have cost the lives of your wife, your son and yourself. I don't know whether it was a result of sheer negligence or they just forgot to do that but it could have been lethal and there are no excuses for this.

Everything that is changed or new things which are fitted to a car need to be tested by the mechanics before handing back the keys. Therefore I will advise you to call the garage and ask for an explanation first, just to see what they have to say about this. The next step then is to contact VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency), which is responsible to regulate garages which perform MOT, and tell them exactly what happened. They will be able to guide you further on what needs doing.
