Paid Car Loan But Name Not On Registration Documents

I took out a loan on a car with my then wife. The loan was in my name; I then purchased the car, proof of which can be obtained. I have paid the payments ever since. My wife name was put on the registration documents because at the time I had a company vehicle; at the time the insurance was taken out with me as the main user and my wife as a named driver. I lost my license last feb and was taken off the insurance. I have now split from my wife, who does the car belong to?

Andrew,

If you have proof that you've purchased the car, then the car is yours. The purpose of the registration document is to tell DVLA who to send out road tax reminders, parking fines, speeding tickets etc. As your then wife's name only appears on the registration document and you have made payments for the car, you are then the rightful and legal owner.
