Banned on his test

My son has received a ban for speeding at 50 on a 30mph stretch of dual carriageway. He would have passed his test otherwise with just 6 minors. Can you tell me if this is a common occurrence?

As far as I know, this is not very common because people taking their driving tests tend to be very cautious on that day. They will be extra careful with everything they do so that they can get their license and not have to resit the test.

Speeding is a really bad thing and the laws have become more strict about it now. Although you can get away by doing 10% above the speed limit + 2, it is not advisable to do that. So in your son's case, he would have been fine doing a maximum of 35 mph if he was not on his test! The examiner must have have been really upset when your son did 50mph on a 30mph zone and decided to ban him as a result. Did he miss a road sign or something?
