Making progress when driving

On a 50mph zone, is doing 42 43 mph ok? Clear road ahead. Or do i need to hit the 50?

John, you will need to do 50mph if the signs say so, otherwise the examiner will take it as hesitation on your behalf. So unless there is something which is preventing you from doing the speed limit, stick to it.

By the way, you will notice that many learner drivers do not actually do the speed limit (even when on a 30mph zone, they sometimes do less than 25mph) because they are scared and would rather drive slowly and be on the safe side than going at the speed limit. However this is not recommended as it will delay your learning and it will not boost your driving confidence.
